One act of leadership, a united act in pursuit of leadership without compromising academics. Together with one goal, students from different departments and organizations of the Northwestern Visayan Colleges scream recognition in the recently concluded DAGYAW 2025: Open Government Townhall Meeting organized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Aklan on November 14, 2025, at the Kalibo Pastrana Park Covered Court, Kalibo, Aklan.
This year’s theme, PAGTIEIEIPON, Balancing the Scale: Nurturing Leadership without compromising Academics, sets the objectives into action as diverse youth organizations and participating schools in the Province of Aklan shared one space with one aim to inculcate the main event’s theme.
With notable speakers, panelists, and distinguished visitors, the event created a momentum where youth voices are heard, not neglected. Sharing perspectives, creating diversion through fun-filled games with lots of surprises, and acknowledging the youth’s voice as an impact to the community that shapes the narrative of the conversation between the government and the people.
To highlight the NVC’s acknowledgement, renowned students made their way to recognition, as one of the layout artist of the Forum Publication, Dale Victoria, conquered the spotlight, winning Champion in Digital Poster Making, showing triumph among all the participating schools in crafting creativity and turning visuals with purpose. Moreover, Kyla Stephanie Nalumen, Managing Editor and Cedrick V. Cusay former Editor-in-Chief of the said publication, contributed to Position Paper Making, and signed their part as two of the major contributors of the paper presented.
Youth participation, advocacy, policy, transparency, accountability, participatory, and effective governance. All of those were common shared values and purpose but the main fact that the event was filled with roaring voices emphasized the learning, instilled goal, shared perspectives that strive for youth’s growth paving the way to change the notion of negative sides that distinguishes leadership and academics.
